SUP Board

A stable SUP board suitable even for beginners is available as a self-service rental. The rental includes a paddle and a life vest for the duration of the reservation. Equipment can be picked up from the self-service storage and must be returned by the end of the rental period. The life vest is suitable for users weighing 40–130 kg. The maximum weight capacity of the board is 120 kg, and the board itself weighs approximately 10.5 kg.

Safety and paddling instructions can be found at the bottom of the product page and in the equipment storage area. We strongly recommend reviewing the safety instructions carefully before heading out on the water. A guide may be present at the site according to separate announcements.

NOTE! Self-service rentals must be paid in advance. If you choose “Open order/Pay on-site” at checkout, the rental will not be registered in the system. If you wish to pay on-site, you can do so when a guide is present at the rental point. On-site payment is possible by card or cash, depending on availability.

Rental Instructions

How does self-service rental work?

  1. Rent and pay for your equipment on this page before your booking starts.

  2. Before your rental begins, you will receive a code via email. This code opens the smart key box located at the storage entrance. Inside, you'll find a key to open the storage door.

    • If there are multiple renters at the same time, please use your own personal code to unlock the door to ensure the system logs each rental correctly.

  3. After opening the storage, return the key to the smart box and ensure the lid is properly closed and locked.

  4. Collect your rented equipment and included accessories (paddle, life vest).

  5. When leaving the storage, make sure the door is securely locked. Do not allow others into the storage!

  6. Check the condition of the equipment before leaving. If anything is broken or missing, call us immediately and we’ll do our best to help.

Return all rented equipment, including the paddle and life vest, by the end of your rental period.
Note: The next renter’s booking may begin immediately after yours, so all items must be returned on time and in good condition.

If you wish to extend your rental, call us to check if an extension is possible or check the online store to make a new booking to follow your current one.

Estimate Your Rental Time

Paddling speed depends on factors such as wind direction and the paddler’s experience. Be sure to include time for breaks and shore landings. Also, allow time at the beginning for setting up and at the end for cleaning the board for the next user.

Where to Pick Up the SUP Board

Rental equipment is located in the self-service storage at:
Rantatie 263, 67800 Kokkola, right next to Hickarö Resort.

Rental Terms

  • Equipment must be returned in the same condition as when rented. Inspect the items before use and report any issues immediately: +358 40 413 3252.

  • The renter is responsible for the equipment during the entire rental period and must cover any damage costs. Lost or stolen items must be compensated at full replacement value.

  • The renter is responsible for their own safety and any damage they may cause. Ensure you have appropriate insurance coverage.

  • Always follow safety instructions and use the equipment with care and awareness of surroundings.

  • Equipment may not be used by non-swimmers or children without immediate and constant supervision by a capable adult.

  • Transporting the equipment away from the rental location by land is not allowed without a separate agreement.

Liability Waiver

By renting the equipment, the renter accepts these terms and confirms that they have reviewed the rental and safety instructions with sufficient care.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

READ CAREFULLY BEFORE GOING ON THE WATER!

The most common accidents happen when entering or exiting the water—typically due to slipping on wet rocks or tipping the board when weight is not centered properly.
Move carefully and keep your weight centered on the equipment when stepping onto the SUP board to avoid tipping!

  • Swimming skills are mandatory! The renter confirms that all users are capable swimmers.

  • Plan your route according to your or your group’s skill level. Be realistic about distance, time, and weather conditions. Identify landing spots and emergency exits in case of sudden weather changes.

You can plan your route and check terrain (e.g. rocky areas) using a MAP SERVICE.

  • Always wear a life vest. Life vests are mandatory for all water users.

  • Check the condition of your equipment. Ensure it is intact and includes required safety gear (e.g., a leash on the SUP board, properly fitted life vest). Report any issues to the rental provider immediately!

  • Check the weather forecast before heading out. Avoid paddling in thunderstorms, strong winds, or fog.

    • Beginners should not paddle in wind stronger than 6 m/s.

    • Even experienced paddlers should plan routes that stay close to the shoreline for shelter.

    • Monitor the weather during your outing and adjust your route or land if needed.

  • In cold water, use a drysuit or paddle close to shore.
If the water temperature is below 15°C, plan your route close to shore so you can get out of the water quickly if needed. Wear merino wool or other insulating layers—avoid cotton, which is cold and slow to dry when wet.

  • Inform someone of your planned route and schedule. Tell someone when and where you’re going and when you expect to return.

  • Bring a phone in a waterproof pouch. In case of emergency, you can call for help. It is recommended to have the 112 app installed on your phone.

  • Yield to boat traffic. Avoid paddling on main boat routes. If you must cross one, do so at the narrowest point with good visibility.

  • Do not go on the water under the influence of alcohol or drugs. These impair balance, judgment, and reaction time.

  • Pack dry clothes, water, and snacks in a waterproof bag according to your needs.
